Alternanthera Specie Green

Explore Alternanthera Specie Green at Richards Bay Pet Shop when planning your planting layout. This supplier name does not identify the exact species, so ask our team to confirm the variety and intended growing conditions before ordering.

Check suitability first

Do not assume every Alternanthera plant is suitable for long-term submerged aquarium growth. Confirm whether the supplied variety belongs underwater or needs an above-water planting setup before placing it in your aquarium.

Preparing and planting

Once suitability is confirmed, gently rinse and inspect the plant. If supplied in a pot, carefully remove the pot and packing material from around the roots. Follow the planting method appropriate to the identified variety and leave space for growth.

Lighting and nutrition

Match lighting, substrate and plant nutrition to the confirmed variety and growing method. Ask our team which products suit your setup, and follow their label instructions. Avoid adding fertiliser or CO2 without first checking the plant's needs and livestock compatibility.

Ongoing care

Confirm suitable temperature and water or growing conditions. Remove damaged growth and watch how the plant settles. For aquarium use, maintain regular partial water changes and avoid repeatedly moving newly planted material.

Fish and shrimp compatibility

Fish that dig or eat plants may disturb your layout. If keeping shrimp or other sensitive animals, ask about any treatments used on the plant and suitable preparation before introducing it.

Tell our team about your intended setup so we can help you check whether this plant is the right choice. Never release plants or aquarium contents into natural waterways.
